National Trust Ideas
When getting this brief I knew that I didn't want to shoot in houses or on estates and I didn't want to shoot cityscapes which took London out of the running for potential locations. I wanted to shoot landscapes focusing on nature. Once I decided this there was a few ideas that came to my head.
- Coastal Areas
- Nature reserves/parks
Whilst doing research into the National Trust I came across a map that showed all of the sites that they protect.
There were certain places that caught my attention.
For coastal Areas/Beaches I looked at Isle of Wight. They had a few costal areas really close together which would give me the opportunity to shoot at them all without spending too much money on travel.
Another area was Norfolk, even though there aren't as many National Trust places there I realised that I didn't have to shoot in just National Trust places and could make my own journey across that coastal region.
For Nature reserves/parks I looked at a few places.
The Lake District
North York Moors
The Peak District
They all seems to have woodland areas that I would be able to explore as well as more open scapes.
Some particular places I liked were:
North York Moors -
Bridestones, Crosscilff and Blakely Toppings
Known for their unique and unusual rock formations
Roseberry Topping
Distinctive and Iconic Landmark
The Lake District -
Fell Foot
Lakeshore Park with Mountain Views
Buttermere Valley
Encompasses three lakes
The Peak District -
Longshaw, Burbage and the Eastern Moors
Has an ancient woods and tumbling streams
Kinder, Edale and The Dark Peak
Vast Moorlands
Looking at all these places its pretty clear that I would need more than a day to shoot in these areas. To get around this I thought it would be a good idea for me to pick which places I wanted to shoot at and then stay in the area for a week or so to give me enough to get some good quality stuff. This meant looking at Air bnb's in the areas.
Looking at the prices it seems that wherever I choose to go is going to be quite expensive to stay in for a week but I will keep looking to see where would be best finically and location wise.
This would most likely be done during the easter holidays as I will have 3 weeks to shoot in multiple locations without any other commitments.
